Happy New Year

We sincerely hope you had a wonderful holiday. I love the holidays for the gatherings of course, but most of all, being intimately connected with loved ones, I usually come away learning something wonderful.

This year, my kids were talking about "First world problems, and third world problems, which put a lot of things into perspective for me. "Oh, that's a first world problem, mom." Which meant something like the dishwasher wasn't working properly, but duh, I have running water, a warm bed and many luxuries that most people in the world can't even imagine, much less enjoy.

Wow, we take so much for granted. This New Year's Day, with a moment to myself, I hope I can keep better perspective on what really matters this coming New Year. I hope all is well with you.--Ruth Mitchell
